Computermuseum: Apple PowerBook G4 „Titanium“ from 2001

The PowerBook G4 Titanium is a technical marvel for it’s time. Apple changed the case material from plastics to Titanium. It included a huge display. It was slim and it was powerful. And the weight was low, much lower than the former PowerBooks and the iBook G3. I got this laptop as a gift from a good friend. It does not work anymore but it is still an excellent example for the future design direction of Apples Laptops. Find more details in my article about the history of mobile Apple Macintoshs.

One observation I made during the keynote: Apple presented this laptop with a quick camera move sequence in Innsbruck, Austria. Nobody noticed it so far I assume.

Update 18.3.2018: the device works perfectly. Mac OS 9.1 is installed. It has 256MB RAM and 8 GB HDD.

Das PowerBook G4 Titanium war ein technisches Wunder als es veröffentlicht wurde. Apple verwendete als Gehäusematerial anstelle von Kunststoff dann Titan. Es hatte ein riesiges Display mit ganz schmalem Rand. Es war dünn und leistungsfähig. Und im Vergleich zu den vorherigen PowerBooks und dem iBook G3 war es sehr leicht. Ich bekam dieses Laptop von einem Freund als Geschenk für mein Museum von einem guten Freund. Es funktionierte nicht mehr aber es ist immer noch ein phantastisches Beispiel für die neue Designrichtung der Apple Laptops. In der Keynote habe ich beobachtet, daß Apple dieses Laptop mit einer schnellen Kamerafahrt durch Innsbruck, Österreich, präsentierte. Scheint sonst noch keinem aufgefallen zu sein.

Nachtrag 18.3.2019: das Gerät funktioniert einwandfrei. Mac OS 9.1 ist installiert und es hat 256MB RAM und eine 8 GB Festplatte.
